One of the senior leaders of the CPN (UML) has expressed that New York would be nearer than Jhapa to put pressure on the Government of Bhutan if exiled Bhutanese wish to repatriate with dignity and honor.
Responding to queries of local mediapersons in Jhapa, former deputy prime minister of Nepal K.P Sharma Oli expressed such an opinion on Friday at Damak, the Purbelitimes reports.
“It would be far better if refugees decide to resettle and then put pressure on Bhutanese government since Thimphu is nearer from New York ,” Oli said.
Claiming that life of resettled Bhutanese was going on smoothly UML leader, who led Nepalese team a number of times during bilateral talks with Bhutan, further said, “Their children will have secure future in America.”
However, he also stressed that demand of those refugees who have decided to remain in camps must not be ignored.
