An FIR (First Information Report) was filed on Saturday against a resident of Damak-12 of Jhapa, who owns a grocery shop in Bangey Bazaar of Beldangi, on charges of murdering a ninth grade student this Thursday.

The FIR was lodged at Damak Police Station against 27-year-old Ajay Sah accusing him of murdering Tek Bahadur Basnet, 14, of Beldangi-II Extension camp.

Basnet, who was a ninth-grade student of Tri-Ratna Secondary School, was found hanging in a tree near the camp but on a suspicious condition. Eyewitness including some members of the Basnet family claimed the  case was a murder, not suicide.

Karna Bahadur Basnet, elder brother of the deceased lodged the FIR this afternoon, informed Camp Secretary Dhanbir Subba.

Meanwhile, police said they interrogated accused Sah and also arrested one exiled youth, whose name has remained undisclosed.

“Sah admitted of physically assaulting late Basnet for stealing Rs 3000 from his shop,” Sub-Inspector of Nepal Police Ganesh Bhattarai told Bhutan News Service. “However, he denied of murdering the boy saying he had developed a kind of family relation with him for Basnet was working in his shop since a year.”

Exiled youths also vandalized the Sah’s shop and destroyed goods worth Rs 200,000, police quoted Sah as claiming.

According to Police, medical examinations revealed the case was a suicide, not a murder. “Doctors are yet to dispatch the official report of the postmortem,” added the Sub-Inspector.

The Camp Secretary expressed dismay saying both the family of the deceased and the camp management committee were denied the medical report.

“We were told to cremate the dead body, but without knowing if the case was a murder or suicide,” he told.

Hundreds of camp residents, school teachers and students took part in the funeral procession on Friday.

  1. Doctors must have been paid well . That is why such bias result came out. How can there be blood spots if he had suicide ??” where the money speaks, the truth remains silent” is proved in this case too.

  2. The murderer must be bring him into the custody and other Refugee agencys such as UNHCR ,IOM must investigate this horror disaster .why our innocent people has suffer this time and again? what the nepalese Government spokesman’s opinion here ? . In this matter, BNS should play vital role .

  3. Firstly, we all bhutanese refugee from seven ocean far away were deeply shocked on his untimely dead.As well as let district criminal invistigation office invistigate the case of his dead with true justice and the accused should get hard punishment for murder.

  4. Tya testai chha hey tya testai chha… paisa bhaye pachi sabai naya kininchaa…
Doctors and Lawyers are always well paid there… coz without barbarism the entire judiciary system will not run there… this is the fact.

Rape, intimidation, assault, murder and killing is being developed as a culture of People there. All Bhutanese are being neglected as treated like a street dog. we have bitter past experiences where our people were killed in a suspicious way. For example, one resident from beldang 2 was hit by wooden plank and pelted stones on him nearly 6 yrs back and died 3 days later. No body intended to listen his family. similarly, Gopal khadka and a small child from pathri camp were inhumanly murdered. One 9 yrs old child from Beldangi three was killed in ranghari when he was collecting tree leaves for cooking. Narapati, a 14 yrs and purna tamang 22, old boys were fired bullet on chest and killed by Nepali police and still not compensated. These are only a few examples that our people have been facing and tolerating.

Again, the saddest news came where 14 yr old boy was hanged.
The police have said the case will be investigated referencing postmortem report, but no doubt there will be conspiracy. who can trust that report where money matters rather that humanity. It is a prime time for the people around and Nepal govt not to consider this situation same like before. We were treated like people from next planet and still same happens that we will start to treat same way. This is the another part of hide and seek game.
WE strongly condemned the actions taken and urge the the govt to brought the culprit on the justice where reality, feeling and sentiments are value rather that cash and cheque.
May his soul remain rest in Peace. May we remain true to his goal.

  5. Once should clearly understand now how the doctor in Nepal are getting the report from their apparatus. It is the culture of Nepalese Dr. towards the Bhutanese refugee since long. We are well known from AMDA Nepal how they act up on refugees. No justice in Nepal. Where is law? It is in big suitcase with all elephants. Where are our so call leaders now? They are silent because they can do nothing for the poor family. Friends do not expect anything from doctor or police for further investigation they are well paid by now.
