March 26: Demanding that their issue should be an agenda of discussion during the 16th round of SAARC summit, those favouring repatriation have declared relay march to Bhutan from camps.

In a press statement, the coordinator of the relay march Badal Thapa said their demand of “return home” should be addressed during the summit.

The relay march is scheduled to begin from Morang-based Sanischare camp and is aimed at reaching Phuntsholing Bhutan. Organisers have also sought support and solidarity from all Bhutanese refugees including the exiled parties, international communities, among others.

  1. Was this not done to the fullest extent in 1996 by AMCC? And what is with ‘Samtsee,’ ‘Gelepu,’ Phuntastoling’ etc in that ‘program details’? And why does ‘Badal’ smacks of Maoists?

    SAARC deals on issues of Agriculture and Rural Development; Health and Population Activities; Women, Youth and Children; Environment and Forestry;
    Science and Technology and Meteorology; Human Resources Development; and
    Transport. It does not deal with issues of Human Rights or Democracy or Migration or Immigration or bilateral relations. Need to focus your energy where it might make a dent. Don’t fool the people by dragging them where lies nothing!

  2. Can I make a request to the organisers of the event to kindly not waste the resource, energy, time and money of the innocent people.

    In reality, you will never be able to cross the Mechi bridge with the Bhutanese banner. How come you are fooling the innocent people with fiction??

    Please don’t injure other Bhutanese with the bullets of Indian police or break their bones by the lathi of Indian police. After you have done this who is going to pay the cost of their medical treatment??

    How many SAARC meeting have passed since 1990??
    If you all organise a forum to help each other, bridge the gap between different parties and initiate some good community oriented function, you will get support from many in the west and from the community.

    Talking hypothetical and misleading innocent is very wrong and you will never succeed. Please talk practical and what you can do, and not you want to dream which is not even possible in your imigination

    Thanks
