Over half a million donated

The state-owned Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) said it collected Nu. 6,28,488.21 today as it has begun a weekly fund raising program for reconstruction of Wangdi Phodrang Dzong.

BBS was able to raise that donations following a three-hour long live program through its television, also attended by Chief Justice Sonam Tobye.

According to BBS, the fundraising program would be broadcast live every Friday evening, from 3 to 6 pm. Apart from making calls during the show, people can commit their contributions through SMS from next week.

  1. I think we the resettled Bhutancese should contribute some thing to the country to rebulld W/Dzong. If we do so the authority will learn a good lesson that refugee love their country more then they do.

  2. No sooner than the flames and the smoke came to rest, this rebuilding and contribution clamour is troublesome! More important is to know who caused this tragedy. It is not explained satisfactorily. To contribute into its unknown cause is volunteering oneself unto slavery to the ambitious masters that make plans… It is evil schemes by the way things are faring!
