Funeral processing of Khadka completes [update]

Sept 09: The funeral processing of late KB Khadka has been performed today amidst thousands of people paying their last tribute.

According to our Beldangi correspondent, an estimated 10,000  plus Bhutanese refugees including representatives of various organisations, local people, journalists, rights activists, among others attended the function.

Meanwhile, the all party meeting of the stakeholders including camp management committee was underway in Beldangi-II camp , while this story was being compiled, to discuss the murder of KB Khadka in a broad day light inside the UNHCR-administered camp yesterday.

Earlier today, the camp secretary of of Beldangi-II Extension, Ganapati Adhikari, called for indefinite shutdown of Beldangi camps until the killers are brought under security control.

In a statement issued, Adhikari has asked the government of Nepal to provide security to the camp residents. (Download Adhikari’s statement)

“I ask all in camps to shutdown everything including schools to demand security and punish the killer of Khadka”, said Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the Birat-led Communist Party of Bhutan (MLM) condemned the murder citing such acts to defame the democratic struggle in Bhutan. (Download CPB(MLM)’s Statement)

“IOM and UNHCR are responsible for increasing act of decapitation of leaders in exiles by fragmenting the exile community according to their best interest”, said the party’s exile coordination committee in-charged alias Raktim.

Youth Friendly Center of the camp also organized an emergency meeting this morning to make out the probable protest programs against the murder.

We the recently resettled Bhutanese Refugees in Australia are deeply shocked by the unexpected and untimely death of Mr.K.B Khardka of Beldangi II extension.We, therefore, urge all the stakeholders to take apt.and immediate steps to find out the murderers and support the bereaved family financially and prompt their resettlement process.

  5. So sad news. Its to much. Where is safe for us? I request to Nepal Govt. and UNHCR for immidiate search that killer (baster) and hang him. We couldn’t get any safty in this world. Every mangement system for Nepal Govt. is so loose. So that that types of killer get easy to further criminals activitis. Please stop it. Please give us security and safe life. I would like to request with concern office for our safe life and security.

I was really shoched by hearing the sudden and untimely murdered death of our socisl worker K.B .Khadka.He was a kind, honest,friendly,frank and helpful to every kids to ealders Bhutanese Refugee.Although he was killed by the blood sucker of human being but K.B.Khadka will remain evergreen in the heart of every Bhutanese Refugee.Who ever may be the culprites must be punished and on words the remaining Bhutanese Refugee should be very careful in the camps.Although we are very far way from the place of incident I would like to express my hearty condolence to his breaved family and all his relatives.Hope his pure soul rest in peace in the garden of heaven with allmighty god.

  9. we are really shocked by the unexpected demise of our beloved brother mr k b khadka .this merely not a death but a inrepairable lost to the bhutanese community and her future.this brutal killing must be paid by those cowards by a ny cost and also this is our humble request to the respective sectors for the immediate steps, please.let god provides strength to the whole bereaved khadka familes and his soul rest peace in heaven.

I therefore would like to extend my heartfelt condolence to him and pray that his departed soul will rest in peace in heaven.     Our thoughts are with you as you mourn your loss. We’re sorry that we cannot be with you in person.

    K B Khadka was a kind and honorable man. His loyalty to Bhutanese society. I don’t think I ever heard K B Daju say an unkind word about anyone. His life disproves the saying: “nice guys finish last”.

    Even my 66 years old dad was shocked about his death. He said K B Daju was the only one deserving leader helping Bhutanese with whole heart.

    K B Daju enriched all Bhutanese’s lives. He was a good man. We all will miss him.
    Its a huge loss for Bhutanese society.

    We the family members of Tika Ram Chapagai are shocked to hear the unexpected and untimely demise of Mr. K.B. Khadka, a Bhutanese political leader. It is indeed, deepest sorrow and irreparable loss of a resourceful citizen of Bhutan. He was a great asset for the newer generation of Bhutan. His decades long experience in different stages of political development in Bhutanese Refugee camps, any body would have been benefited, whoever had recorded his Testimony.
    His immense dream to return to own homesteads has snatched away suddenly within no minutes and has to rest in the foreign soil.
    We miss him enormously, We extend our heartfelt condolence to his bereaved family and relatives for this shocking loss. May the Almighty grant his near and dear ones the strength to bear this colossal grief.  We pray for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace in his heavenly abode.
