A longtime volunteer at Bhutanese Refugee Education Program (BREP) of Caritas Nepal, Niraula started his media career from The Bhutan Reporter monthly published by the Bhutan Media Society from Kathmandu. He has also facilitated a number of media trainings for emerging reporters in the Bhutanese refugee camps. In 2012, he edited the Refugee Herald monthly, published and circulated within the refugee camps.
He obtained his schooling from the Bhutanese refugee camp, secondary education from Kumudini Homes Higher Secondary School in Kalimpong and holds a Bachelor degree in humanities from Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal.
Having resettled in New Hampshire in June 2013, he is also volunteering at the Bhutanese Community of New Hampshire. Prior to his resettlement, he worked as Regional News Coordinator of the Bhutan News Service (BNS) for a longtime.
